History abounds with this refurbished old southern antebellum home moved from the Savannah River. Large old oaks are surrounded by the circular drive and fronted by old brick walls with iron entry gates.

A guesthouse for visitors or managers quarters is styled with open beam and stucco type interior. Guest home has high set deck to view the pool and brick patio area in rear and catch warm southern breezes and bright stars at night.

The Guest Cottage was my baby...I drew up the blue print and Jerry and I started it then finished by hiring a builder.

You walk up the steps and into the open area and directly on the right is the alcove table with built in benches and underneath seating storage...

A galley sink and cabinets and little gas stove set up the kitchen. You have a full bath, rear open bedroom and sitting area. Wide board floors, open beamwork, and stucco appearing walls complete the atmosphere of this quaint little extra guest accommodations. A deck off the side door allows for views over the rear of the property for your guests to have coffee in the morning or late brunch. Underneath the guest house is a little shop and storage area for mower and equipment...

Enter into this gracious old home by way of a spectacular center hallway with dramatic 12’ ceilings duplicated upstairs off the four large bedrooms. The entry gives views through to the lovely sunroom with old Mexican tiles. Sliders from sunroom look out over brick patio and pool. This home invites social gatherings.

A delightful and large kitchen will please any gourmet with pantry and laundry for direct access. A large family room with raised hearth fireplace, parquet flooring and custom gun case are joined by another full bath.
Wainscoting and French doors open into a formal dining area with embellished fireplace. Dining room has beautifully restored wide board floors, as is the case throughout the home.
The formal parlor also with a fireplace and mantle boasts built in hutch and bookshelves and window treatments are custom hand made to fit the period. Intricate details on wainscoting and wide board floors complete this room now in use as a library/computer/sitting parlor.

Upstairs sleeping areas boast another gracious center hallway with beautiful dental moldings overlooking the front circular drive. Four ample bedrooms each share a full bath with ceramic tiles. The two front bedrooms display again, beautiful fireplaces with mantles. The upstairs has ample storage with a walk-in linen closet, extra seasonal clothing closet and pull down floored attic that is sufficiently insulated. Home is on three heat pumps as well as electric and has its own well. Unlike many old homes we do allow for comfort through the central air conditioning, and atmosphere is not lost with easy on heat via gas logs and a ceramic cased log stove.

A full porch completes the comfort of this traditional old southern plantation home that over looks the 12 stall Hoover built stables with finished tack room and feed room. There are ten-foot overhangs and center aisle with large sliding doors on either end. A separate entrance to the main road keeps traffic away from personal home allowing for privacy.

Home surveyed out on five acres abuts the additional 250 acres of land offering three beautiful ponds and river bottoms. Enough pasture for horse and cattle operation or a gentleman’s retreat. Wild boar, turkey and deer abound here and record setting large mouth bass have been caught. A vast array of small birds will decorate fields and trees, and a kennel is provided for your hunting dogs or pet.

This home is featured in an artists rendering in the book, “Sketch of the South” as done by the renowned Oscar Valasquez.

Location is superb for nature and privacy yet you are 6 miles to Ga., 2 hours to Atlanta, 1 hour to Greenville, just below Rte 85 and just off of 72 leading into Atlanta. You are an easy drive to the mountains, the ocean, and one hour from the Masters. For boaters you are minutes to the Savannah River and Hartwell Lakes.
